Introducing PRAXIS

Motor skills.
Communication.
Everyday life.

Along with Body4Brain, Janessa Rick is introducing PRAXIS: a specific treatment approach for children and adults with dyspraxia.

The approach focuses on the motor skills involved in communication and everyday activities. Treatment is shaped around each person’s strengths, needs and priorities.

Motor coordination

Focus on motor planning and coordination challenges that can affect participation in daily life.

Communication participation

Support for the motor skills involved in a person’s communication activities.

Everyday activities

Individual goals connected to the routines and activities that matter to the person.

A welcome from Janessa

To the community

I’d like to introduce myself and PRAXIS. My work has brought me alongside people of all ages with a wide range of neurological and orthopedic diagnoses.

In the 1990s, I began exploring approaches that could support young people with self-regulation and developmental motor coordination concerns. Many were nonspeaking or experienced difficulty with typical verbal communication.

That experience deepened my commitment to looking beyond labels and understanding each person’s individual needs. I have continued to study motor-related approaches and bring that training into personalized treatment.

PRAXIS grows out of this work. My aim is to support all persons with sensory motor challenges in communication and everyday activities.

I would be happy to discuss your needs and concerns in more detail. I look forward to supporting this community.
